Cannot download duplicate apps on other devices

When you reset the device and enroll it again, it will see the device again as a unique object, so a new device with a new Intune device ID is created.

These devices can even have the same device name. This way the device will always have the same name and you will easily see the duplicated devices and at the last connection date to see which is currently in use.

It is also possible to enable the device cleanup rule, so devices gets cleaned up automatically after not getting connected after a certain amount of days.

But be aware that if a device is still in use but hasn't been on for a long period, you could cause that the user will not be able to logon on the device anymore, when it has been removed from Intune. Because it is difficult to check for all devices in the world to see if it is the same device as another which is enrolled before, a device will never be overwritten or the old device deleted, when the device is re-enrolled.

I would advise to make sure that the computername is always the same by using AutoPilot for Windows 10 devices and set the option to set the computername so it includes the serialnumber. And for example every month, check for duplicated devices and remove all of them except the last connected devices. You can also do this by creating a PowerShell script which export all devices, finds duplicated device names, checks which one is has the latest connection date and remove the other duplicated devices.
