I can go outside time into my own personal version of reality, the place I call "the Quiet", where I can explore my surroundings while the rest of the world stands still. I thought I was the only one who could do this, until I met her. My name is Darren, and this is how I learned that I'm a reader. He certainly has found this ability useful, such as at cheating at tests, and in his career as an investor on Wall Street.

He finds out he is not alone though, he is not the only person with this ability This story has "everything" -- a protagonist who isn't afraid to tell you exactly how he feels about what's going on, both good guy and bad guy Russians, gangsters, an interesting take on a car chase, a scientist, trouble with one's parents, and drama at a casino.

At times, the story feels like it is trying to be "too cool", but that's a minor quibble. Jan 09, Amy Vincent rated it it was amazing. This leads Dar This tells the story of Darren, who uses his unique ability of being able to step outside the boundaries of time and explore his surroundings whilst the world stands still in order to cheat in life and re-invent himself as wealthy, intelligent playboy. This is an extremely captivating and exciting story.

It is written very well and flows from beginning to end, making you want to read or listen on and not stop. It is effective in immersing you in the storyline from the very beginning and captures the imagination. The characters are intriguing, engaging and believable and although it is a very simple story, it is a fantastic concept- it is fast paced and thrilling and I can definitely foresee this book becoming a film the future.

Apr 02, J. Cauthon rated it really liked it. I loved this book! I could not put it down once I started turning the pages. For me, it was one action-filled moment after another and that kept me turning pages to see what was going to happen next. Since Darren did not know much about his ability, it made it easier for me to learn about it with him.

The explanation was a bit sparse, but it was understandable and believable to me. The only thing I did not appreciate much about this book was the way the females were handled in it. Darren spends a I loved this book! Darren spends a lot of the first three chapters going over his "rules" of the Quiet--the biggest being "don't touch the women. And the ladies are constantly referred to as simply "hot. All-in-all, it was a good read, and I will definitely be grabbing the next book in the series soon.

It was an enjoyable read to me, and I can't wait to read more of the story. Nov 18, Daniel Pollard rated it it was amazing. The first book of the Thought Readers series was just what I hoped it would be: A action-packed, fast-paced, science fiction book. From the beginning, the story moves at lightning pace. Never once during the story did I feel bored, and I was glued to it until the finish.

The story itself, of a man who can read minds, is nothing new, but the way Dima Zales explored it was fresh to me, and I felt like it was a brand new concept. I couldn't help but want to constantly know more about the story of the two main groups, readers and pushers, and the main character, Darren, felt realistic and likable to me, and his growth throughout the story, from what seemed like quite a selfish man, to one who was willing to risk himself for the friends he made kept me rooting for him throughout.

Feb 28, Kim Marino rated it it was amazing. This book follows a man, Darren, who throughout his whole life thought he was the only one who was able to stop time and see what was going on around him and able to walk around while everyone else was stopped, stuck in time. Until one day he sees someone else moving around with him while he has stopped time.

The person he was moving around time with was Mira. Darren tracks down Mira and her brother Eugen This book follows a man, Darren, who throughout his whole life thought he was the only one who was able to stop time and see what was going on around him and able to walk around while everyone else was stopped, stuck in time.

Darren tracks down Mira and her brother Eugene in an attempt to find out more about what was happening to him. He learns that he is what they call "a reader". The other connection between them is that both of them had both parents murdered. This story is full of mystery and intrigue. Stopping time, reading minds, splitting into other dimensions. There is a good storyline and the narrator is very good. He told the story very naturally and I liked his voice, perfect for telling the story.

I am getting more and more interested in listening to the books of Dima Zales. He writes so you need to find out what happens next Aug 26, Joselyn Moreno Burke rated it it was amazing. I received this book from the publisher for an honest review OMG this book is so cool and interesting I find myself drawn to this world and as Darren want to know more of what is happening I have some theories but damn sooo good.

I very sympathetic with Mira quest, she wants justice and won't stop at anything to find it, I like her a lot. Eugene do justice in his own manner and I find so cool that he will finish his father work and try to help her sister any way he can. I think at times it a lot o I received this book from the publisher for an honest review OMG this book is so cool and interesting I find myself drawn to this world and as Darren want to know more of what is happening I have some theories but damn sooo good.

I think at times it a lot of distress but damn I can't put it down and I often tell myself just a chapter more, the drama is so interesting that it will hook you up fast. A truly immersive sci fi for all fans. I really do like the plot is so brilliant and the characters so interesting and humans Im excited to read the second book already. More reviews www. I really enjoyed this book. Although there is a prequel short story, this book is the first in the Mind Dimension series.

As a first book it also starts the main series story arc. I enjoyed how the story was written, how the plot evolved and the world it takes place in. I felt the characters were multi-faceted and enjoyed how the various relationships progressed. Although there is no life or death cliffhanger, I did feel the book ends I really enjoyed this book.

Although there is no life or death cliffhanger, I did feel the book ends a bit abruptly and we are left with some major questions left to answer ;- Having said that I will look out for book 2 "The Thought Pushers" and add it to my wish list. Aug 06, Carole Hayes rated it it was amazing. LOVE the premise of this series.

This was more well-written than the prequel, and I had a really hard time putting it down to do things that I was supposed to do work, fix dinner, sleep There were a few things I saw coming, and a few that surprised me, and I'm dying to read the rest of the series to find out if some of my predictions will come true or not.

VERY happy that I found this series!! This is so much better though. The characters are compelling and the suspense is intense. I am going straight to the second book. Oct 17, Laura added it Shelves: not-interested. Paranormal 13 Anthology Based on the blurb and the 1st chapter, I have no desire to read this book. Being inside the main character's head for a few pages made me hope for his demise in any way possible Aug 05, R rated it it was amazing Shelves: series , sf , paranormal , adventure , thrillers , ebook-kindle.

Fun, addictive read. I seriously did not want to put the book down. It was ok - not interested in the sequel though. I finished it about a week ago, and I couldn't even tell you the main characters names. Dec 07, Zach Ryder rated it it was amazing Shelves: favorites. This hard magic system is brilliantly handled and very creative in how it is a combination of already seen before superpowers which are combined and handled in a inventive way.

It is admirable how almost every characters that's introduced is memorable and bounce off each other very well. The beginning, middle and end of this novel is expertly woven together; in a manner that most origin stories can only dream of pulling off this concisely and still be this entertaining. While most protagonists ought to be compelling and them being relatable is not necessary for a good main character, this novel's one fills both roles superbly.

With this novel somehow squeezing in both the main character's origin story and further revelations into it which is exposed, as well as the both the main supporting characters' origins, it is shocking how this novel still manages to breeze past them with breakneck speed and isn't bogged down by them.

The hard magic system and the world-building surrounding it elevates this story with so much intrigue for the reader into being left wanting more stories involving it and being further utilised it is almost nail-biting.

Every thread this novel touches on and divulges into leaves so much room for this series to expand and even further elaborate on. Yes, the very first book answers just about all questions this magic system raises and even addresses inquiries which would normally be saved for later sequel novels to bring up.

The fact that characters freezing time and interacting with each other for periods of time doesn't grind the tension in action scenes, but actually enhances the suspense triple-fold is a testament as to how well this author has come up with and handles this magic system. All the creative ways one would imagine using these superpowers is exactly what happens in this novel plus more. It is truly astounding how well the simplistic car chase and infiltration sections are so much more entertaining by including this magic system, along with the great characters which are fleshed-out and are already compelling in the very first novel in the series.

This novel would make a fantastic triple-feature pilot episode for a TV series. It even has all but one female character excluding the protagonist's relatives being described as very attractive so it even fills that requirement for a TV series, it does come off as kind of silly but that's the only thing about this novel which comes close to me having any criticisms about this novel. Reading every novel in this series is definitely going to happen. There are no discussion topics on this book yet.

I was not taught the true rules of English, only just just to memorize words. I have been truly struggling to find a spelling program that teaches kids how to spell more than just limited number of words.

And teaches the rules with it, and that builds up over time. It was a big help with my two late readers. My only issue was that is was for just reading and did not have the depth for spelling LOTS of words. With the McGuffy books and the knowledge I have I am hoping I can teach my kids to read and spell pretty much most words. Thank you for providing this resource for all of us. I downloaded all the books and saved them. It is such a blessing to me to have these books without the high cost.
